Bybit said its local subsidiary, Bybit Payments GmbH, has received an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license from Austria’s Financial Market Authority (FMA), clearing the way to offer regulated e-money and payment services across Europe through Bybit.eu. The company said the new setup separates business lines, with Bybit Payments handling fiat and e-money operations while Bybit EU GmbH focuses on digital asset activities. Bybit also noted that Bybit EU GmbH has already been authorized as a crypto-asset service provider under the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCAR) since May 2025. Under the EMI framework, Bybit Payments plans to roll out peer-to-peer transfers, open banking features, merchant solutions, card programs and strong customer authentication tools. Company representatives said the license is expected to support direct partnerships with European financial institutions and payment processors.
